The newest StoryWalk® in Downtown Middleton is a celebration of books and friendship.

Families are invited to downtown Middleton to enjoy the city’s summer StoryWalk®, beginning Saturday, June 5, through Aug. 31, with the story “Hooray for Books!” by Brian Won.

“Hooray for Books!” follows Turtle while he tries to find his favorite misplaced book. Meet all of Turtle’s animal friends, and discover that though they each love different books, the stories bring them together.

“The library is happy to continue this partnership with the downtown business association through the summer,” said Katie Ganser, Youth Services Librarian for Middleton Public Library. “When we started this series last September, we didn’t know how successful and fun it would be. It’s wonderful to see families downtown doing the panel activities and exploring the area.”

Families can follow the book through 23 illustrated posters around downtown. A numbered map can be picked up at the Middleton Public Library or downloaded online. The map and businesses are numbered so that readers can follow the stops in order and find out what happens next in the story.   “Kids will love the bright colors, the funny animals, and of course, cheering ‘Hooray for books!’ as they follow along,” Ganser said.  There are also activities included on each stop to keep kids active.

Safety guidelines: Please practice social distancing during your StoryWalk®, giving others six feet of space, and follow Dane County Public Health guidelines regarding COVID-19, including staying home if sick or presenting symptoms.

StoryWalk® is presented by Middleton Public Library and Downtown Middleton Business Association. The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, Vt., and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library.
